United Tribes Technical College is offering a new round of training for Native Americans interested in becoming electricians. The college began accepting applications on March 12 for its “Native American Electrician’s Training Program.”
The program is scheduled for 16 weeks. Eight weeks of pre-apprenticeship instruction, including classroom and hands-on training, is set to begin May 29 and run through July 20, followed by eight weeks of apprenticeship work.

Students from Cathedral School in Bismarck, North Dakota have taken first and second place honors in North Dakota for the Fall 2011 Stock Market Game (SMG) for Middle School. The first place winner was Brittany Materi with a winning portfolio of $114,523.46 and the second place winners were Henry Fleischacker & Victor Fleck with a winning portfolio of $108,175.08. Their teacher is Duane Eichele. The goal of the competition is for a team of students to achieve the largest investment gain in their portfolio.

On May 18, Junior Achievement (JA) will host the 7th annual JA Casino Night. This event was originally created because JA wanted to try something “different” than the traditional golf tournaments, bowl-a-thons and walks that many other non-profits do successfully.
