Gov. Jack Dalrymple announced that the Federal Emergency Management Agency has approved his request to extend the deadline for North Dakota residents to apply for federal flood assistance.
Home owners and business owners have until Nov. 21, 2011, to apply with FEMA for Individual Assistance. The deadline extension also givesflood victims 60 more days to apply for low interest loans provided by the Small Business Administration. Many issues impacting North Dakota businesses were discussed, debated and voted on during the 2011 legislative session, but a few key topics remain on the table for the upcoming special session scheduled to begin Nov. 7.

Gov. Jack Dalrymple told Environmental Protection Agency officials last month that their proposal to further restrict regional haze is overreaching and would have devastating consequences in rural America, where normally occurring dust is a fact of life in agriculture production.

The North Dakota Council on the Arts (NDCA), along with the offices of Gov. Jack Dalrymple and First Lady Betsy Dalrymple, is exhibiting the works of Grand Forks artist Robert A. Bykonen at the Capitol Building in Bismarck during the months of January, February and March. Bykonen’s works are on display in the Governor’s ground floor and first floor offices, the First Lady’s fourth floor office, and the Attorney General’s first floor office.

The U.S. Census Bureau recently reported that North Dakota’s population has reached 672,591 residents, an increase of 30,391 people (a nearly 5 percent increase) in the last decade.
Census data shows that North Dakota’s current population is the largest since 1930 when the state was home to a record 680,845 people.
“The Census Bureau’s findings con- firm what we have been working hard to accomplish over the last 10 years,” Gov. Jack Dalrymple said. “We are growing North Dakota.”
