The Bismarck-Mandan Chamber’s Military Aff airs Committee (MAC) partnered with the University of Mary and Central Market on a cookie drive for military members and families.
The MAC is coordinated the event for the second year. Last year nearly 200 dozen cookies were collected through business and community donations. This year the committee wanted to really show their support for the military and pulled in support from local grocer Central Market and the University of Mary.

The University of Mary encourages area businesses to take part in the 10th Annual Community Fair. The event, sponsored by America’s Leadership University, provides an opportunity for businesses to market their products and services to over 1,000 University of Mary students.

Leadership Bismarck-Mandan students participated in the Education Issue Day on Dec. 15 at Bismarck’s newest elementary school – Sunrise Elementary. The class heard from a panel of education experts ranging from elementary school through higher education.
School Board members talked about their responsibilities from policy creation to budget management. They shared that their work includes cooperation with the city, parks department, and the Chamber on occasions. They also partner with local colleges.

As the University of Mary, America’s Leadership University, continues to make its mark as one of the fastest growing colleges in the Upper Midwest, its impact on the area economy also keeps increasing. Now in its 51st year of steady growth, in 2009-2010, the University of Mary had an economic impact of over $127.5 million on the Bismarck-Mandan community, according to the university’s 2010 Economic Impact Statement issued this month, based on an economic multiplier developed by North Dakota State University.

The University of Mary, America’s Leadership University, will inaugurate its sixth president, Father James Patrick Shea, during a weeklong celebration.
Hundreds of families, friends, faculty, students, community members and well-wishers are expected to take part in the festivities that begin Sunday, Sept. 13 and run through Saturday, Sept. 19.
At 33, Father Shea is the youngest university president in the United States. He succeeds Sister Thomas Welder who became the college’s fifth president in 1978 and was the longest currently serving woman college president in the nation at the time of her …
