The St. Alexius Hospice is hosting an informational meeting for those interested in becoming a Hospice volunteer. The meeting is Feb. 10, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., in Great Plains Rehabilitation Services’ conference room (please use the door on the east side of the building). Refreshments will be served.

Junior Achievement of Bismarck-Mandan hosted new and returning volunteers at their semi-annual JA Training last month.
Attendees were given a glimpse at what the non-profit provides area youth and what their commitment as volunteers entails. They learned that JA delivers fun and interactive curriculum centered on financial education and entrepreneurism. They also learned that the commitment is minimal, flexible and very rewarding.

Junior Achievement of Bismarck- Mandan (JA) is growing by leaps and bounds, and needs the community’s help to meet classroom requests. Volunteers are needed to guide readymade curriculum for the following programs in Bismarck-Mandan: 3rd Grade-Our City; 4th Grade-Our Region; 5th Grade-Our Nation; 6th Grade-Global Marketplace; and 9th Grade-NEFE Financial Planning Program.

The Bismarck-Mandan Chamber of Commerce (Chamber) extends its gratitude to all of the community members who volunteered to assist residents aflicted by the lood. Close to 300 people contacted the Chamber between March 25 and 26 to off er aid that included everything from manpower to horsepower.
“I’m amazed at the outpouring of support,” said Chamber President Kelvin Hullet.
“We not only had off ers to help ill and set up sandbags, but fielded additional calls from volunteers willing to haul the bags by truck to local homes.”
